In 1990, Prouille School commenced the demolition of an adjoining home,"Wairoa" at 3 Water Street. It had been used as a schoolroom but was in poor condition. As it was Heritage Listed, Ku-Ring-gai Council obtained an injunction to stop the demolition.

A great body of experts was assembled to testify to the historical and architectural significance of the building. Sadly they were unable to prevail and the building ended up being demolished.
